Matt McCredie

Author of The Real Inspector Rex

With a long career as part of the New South Wales Police Force, Matt McCredie is passionate about sharing his stories working with an elite dog squad.

Matt worked as a Prison Officer at Sydney’s Long Bay Prison before spending the next two decades as a front-line officer in New South Wales. In that time, Matt moved on to being an elite dog handler with his two partners – Police Dog Merlin and Police Dog Rex. Decorated for his bravery on different occasions, Matt would eventually retire from the police force after succumbing to injuries received in his line of duty.

Matt continues to share his experience with his dog squad in his best-selling non-fiction books, ‘Blue Paws’ and ‘The Real Inspector Rex'. With charming tales of a man and his dog fighting crime together, his books are regarded as deeply moving and highly amusing. He has also gone on to publish two fiction novels ‘K9 Blue-Ground Zero’ and ‘K9 Blue-Duck’ in 2014.

Catching the hearts of Australian readers, Matt has appeared in many programs like Channel Nine’s Morning Show, as well as being interviewed by Alan Jones and John Laws.

Matt has spoken about his experiences for many different corporate organisations, including the Royal Caribbean Cruise Line. He was also the keynote speaker at the Adelaide Spring Rose Charity function in 2013.

With a mix of entertaining and inspirational, Matt gives audiences a unique insight into the experiences of working with an elite police dog squad.
