Australian Olympian Giaan Rooney has had a successful swimming career with gold medals and world records to her name. Now a media personality with a million-dollar smile, Giaan is the perfect MC for any corporate function looking to engage and inspire their audience.
Breaking into the international swimming at just 15, Gian took home a Gold in the 100m Backstroke at the 1998 Commonwealth Games. Shortly after, she competed in the 2000 Sydney Olympics, winning another two Silver Medals from Relay events. At the 2001 World Championships in Japan, she also won the 200m Freestyle.
Before her retirement from competitive swimming in 2006, Giaan reached her greatest career achievement during the 2004 Athens Olympics. Competing in the 4 x 100m Medley Relay team, she was a key player in helping the team win the race.
Giaan pivoted into media and entertainment, working as a presenter with Nine News. Drawing on her sporting expertise, Giaan became involved across a range of sporting-related programs, including on Wide World of Sports, Getaway, Postcards. She also covered important events like the 2010 Winter Olympics, 2012 London Olympics and Nine's Spring Racing.
Soon after in 2013, Giaan moved to Channel Seven Melbourne as an ambassador and weekday weather presenter. She continues to work as a sports anchor for Channel 7, having moved back home to Queensland in 2016.
In recognition of her inspiring work, Giaan was awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia in 2007.
She works as an Ambassador for various organisations, including CareSuper, Bayer Animal Health, Women's Fitness Magazine and Eureka Street Furniture. She is also heavily involved with community initiatives like the Alannah & Madeline Foundation, Nelune Foundation and the Lort Smith Animal Home.
With years of presenting experience, combined with a highly decorated career in competitive swimming, Giaan continues to support community events and corporate functions as a popular MC and keynote presenter.
