Dr Skye Saunders

As the #MeToo movement becomes more prevalent than ever, professional leaders have been able to create a more inclusive and safe workplace thanks to Dr Skye Saunders.

With prior experience as an employment and discrimination lawyer, Skye is a leading academic expert on the topic of sex discrimination. Her ground-breaking research, ‘Whispers from the Bush: The Workplace Sexual Harassment of Australian Rural Women’ has helped to shed a light on the extent of sexual harassment in rural Australian workplaces.

Skye is determined to shape a future of gender equality by educating young generations. She is an Associate Professor in Law at the Australian National University, and recently taught a comparative US and Australian Gender Law program with the University of Alabama.

Outside of academia, she contributes her expertise to a range of organisations, including as the Vice President of YWCA Canberra and as a United Nations Commission delegate on the Status of Women in New York.

In recognition of her work, Skye was awarded the Chancellor’s 2017 Distinguished Young Alumni Award with the University of Canberra.

A passionate advocate for gender equality, Skye has disrupted patterns of sex discrimination through the ‘Strike A Chord’ framework that empowers women, men and employers to shape an inclusive workplace environment. Delivered with empathy, Skye is able to articulate important issues around sex discrimination and sexual harassment in a simple but impactful manner.

Skye regularly presents at national and international events, and has even produced a short documentary film with the Victorian Women’s Trust based on her research. She is currently researching for her new book, as well as on the perspectives of men on sexual harassment in the bush.

Drawing upon her legal expertise, as well as her insightful research, Skye’s engaging presentations are able to inspire change in any organisation through practical strategies and tangible goals.
