Bedi Othow

Leading the Change for Inclusive Workplaces and Equal Opportunities

Bedi Othow is a passionate public speaker, diversity advocate, and seasoned Human Resource manager with over a decade of experience in talent management, HR advisory, consulting, and project management. Currently serving as the Acting Head of Corporate Services for the Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission, Bedi’s expertise spans a range of industries, including Banking, Law, and the Victorian Public Sector, where she brings a wealth of knowledge and a unique perspective to help address diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) gaps within workplaces.

As a South Sudanese Australian migrant who has overcome significant employment barriers, Bedi passionately advocates for diversity and inclusion in both the workplace and beyond. In 2020, she co-founded DivTal, an innovative platform aimed at improving employment opportunities and creating culturally safe and inclusive work environments for underrepresented minority groups. Alongside Bedi’s impactful involvement in numerous diversity and inclusion committees, DivTal has been widely recognised for its ability to connect employers with job candidates from marginalised backgrounds, addressing complex recruitment barriers and fostering culturally safe environments.

Bedi is a highly influential thought leader in the DEI space and can frequently be seen sharing her unique insights at industry events such as the Australasian Talent Conference Innovation Lab Pitch as a guest speaker, where DivTal was a runner-up; on Diversity at the Australasian Talent Conference, again as a quest speaker; and the StartSpace - Future founders festival.

A committed advocate for change, Bedi also works to challenge traditional norms in the fashion industry. As a curve fashion model, she passionately promotes diversity inclusion both in front and behind the scenes. Bedi’s holistic approach to inclusion, combining her personal lived experience with her professional expertise, has made her a highly sought-after speaker and consultant.

With a Bachelor of Business from Swinburne University and currently pursuing a Masters of Human Resource Management at Monash University, Bedi’s qualifications complement her unwavering dedication and passion for fostering a more inclusive future of work. She continues to inspire and lead efforts aimed at creating workplaces where all individuals, regardless of their background, can thrive and reach their full potential.
