Connecting Australian communities through the power of music
A prolific Australian musician with plenty of experience as a performer, instructor and producer, Dr Jonathon Welch has dedicated his life to strengthening local communities through the collaborative power of musical expression.
Raised with a keen passion for music and the performing arts, Jonathon became heavily involved with the Australian opera scene, performing across the country in Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland. Jonathon’s craft has been recognised with a multitude of awards, and he has even worked with some of Australia’s biggest artists, including Baz Luhrmann and Dame Joan Sutherland.
Best known for his work with underprivileged or homeless people within the Australian community, Jonathon assisted the development of The Choir of Hard Knocks as choirmaster. The choir’s formation was documented in 2007 as part of a special ABC documentary series.
Jonathon continues to use music and ensemble choirs as a means to connect people, such as for the cancer fundraising event Sing For A Cure.
An inspiring speaker with engaging and interactive presentations, Jonathon has developed key workshops to help audiences achieve their goals. Through a combination of vocal exercises, songwriting and music performances, audiences will fully utilise their teamwork (and vocal skills) to better understand Jonathon’s strategies.
Described as approachable and reliable, Dr Jonathon Welch tailors his programs for every audience, making him the perfect addition to any event.
