Tim McMillan is a renowned professional in the media industry, having made significant contributions across television, radio, and digital platforms. With a Bachelor of Science from the University of Western Australia, and Journalism from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts Science, Tim began his career as a producer at ABC 720 Perth. Tim later moved to London, seeking international experience, which he used as his European base for a few years.
Returning to Australia in 2006, Tim reported for ABC 774 Melbourne before transitioning to Channel Nine to work his first on-camera role. Over four years, he became the recipient of two Melbourne Press Club Quill Awards for Best TV News Report. He covered notable events such as the tragic Black Saturday bushfires and the Sydney Hobart Yacht Race, as well as several high-profile court cases, including Australia’s longest ever terrorism trial, the Beaconsfield inquest and the prosecutions of high profile underworld figures such as Carl Williams and Tony Mokbel.
In 2010, Tim relocated to Sydney, where he continued reporting for the Nine Network, including his coverage of the final Azaria Chamberlain inquest. He has also filled in national morning and afternoon bulletins and the Today Show.
After over a decade away, Tim returned to Perth in 2013, joining Channel Nine Perth as the weeknight news anchor, while also launching the local morning news program and contributing to radio programs on Radio 6PR and ABC Radio. Tim was an invaluable member of the Nine Network’s national team, filling in for Karl Stefanovic as Today Show host, as well as being part of the team covering major stories such as Schappelle Corby’s release from Kerobokan Prison in Bali.
Transitioning to the Severn Network, Tim currently hosts Flashpoint, WA’s sole current affairs program, and presents weekend news bulletins for Severn Perth. Additionally, he can be seen hosting the radio show ‘Inspiring Stories’ on 882 6PR.
Beyond his media roles, Tim is an accomplished master of ceremonies, regularly hosting corporate, government, and sporting events. He is also a media training consultant, serving clients across various industries. Helping individuals fine-tune their presentation skills and work effectively with the media, Tim brings practical expertise and professionalism to every client interaction.
