Rebecca Maddern is one of Australia’s most prominent and versatile television presenters, known for her engaging on-screen presence and extensive experience across news, sports, and entertainment. With a career spanning over two decades, Maddern has established herself as a respected journalist and a familiar face in Australian media.

Maddern’s journey began with a Bachelor of Arts in Media Studies from RMIT University. She started her media career in radio, taking on roles at Melbourne’s top stations, including Triple M, Fox FM, and Nova 100. At Nova, she read breakfast news during the station’s inaugural year of the "Hughesy, Kate, and Dave" show, building a foundation for her future in television.

Her television career took off in 2002 when she joined the Seven Network as a reporter. Her talent was quickly recognised, and she was awarded the prestigious Quill Award in 2003 for her outstanding coverage of Victoria’s bushfires, an extraordinary achievement in her first year on TV. Over the following years, she became a regular contributor to flagship programs like Sunrise, The Morning Show, and Seven News, as well as high-profile events such as the AFL’s Brownlow Medal and the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal.

In 2016, Maddern made a high-profile move to the Nine Network, where she took on prominent roles as co-host of the AFL Footy Show and host of Australian Ninja Warrior, showcasing her ability to connect with audiences across a wide variety of genres. Her role as a host of Nine’s coverage of major sporting events, including the 2019 Cricket World Cup and the Ashes Series in England, further demonstrated her sports broadcasting credentials. Additionally, she served as a co-host of Weekend Today, enhancing her reputation as a dynamic and adaptable media personality.

Maddern’s return to the Seven Network in January 2022 marked a new chapter in her career. She rejoined as the weekend presenter for Seven News Melbourne, co-anchoring alongside Mike Amor. Her role expanded further as she also presented Seven Afternoon News in Melbourne. Her leadership and experience were soon recognised, and in November 2024, it was announced that she would step into an expanded role as Chief Sports Presenter for Seven News Melbourne starting in January 2025, succeeding Tim Watson. This role highlights her authority in sports journalism and her ability to engage with viewers on a national scale.

Throughout her career, Rebecca Maddern has become known not only for her professionalism and versatility but also for her warmth, intelligence, and authenticity on screen. Her contributions to Australian television have made her a trusted and influential media figure, with a legacy that continues to grow.
