Former Socceroo, media personality and child safety advocate.

Archie Thompson is Australian football royalty who spent the majority of his career with Melbourne Victory FC. In his illustrious career with the club, he went on to win 3 championships and 2 prestigious Victory Medals, the highest honour awarded by the club.

The former Socceroo has made over 50 appearances for Australia, scoring 28 goals. He played a pivotal role in the 2005 qualification games against Uruguay, which saw Australia break a 35 year drought. He was in the squad for the 2006 FIFA World Cup, the 2001 and 2005 FIFA Confederations Cups, the 2007 AFC Asian Cup, the 2008 Summer Olympics and the successful 2004 OFC Nations Cup.

Thompson’s 13-goal haul against American Samoa in 2001 remains a World record.

Archie was one of Australia’s elite football players and is now forging a career in media, taking on a role with the Ten Network as a key commentator on Ten/Paramount+ A-League coverage, after previously being with Fox Sports as part of their coverage.

In 2021 we will see Archie put his culinary skills to the test as a contestant on Celebrity MasterChef Australia. We can’t wait to see Archie battle it out in Australia’s most iconic kitchen to air on the Ten Network.

Archie loves developing young footballers and he has been coaching young children before deciding to re-enter the professional football ranks as a specialist coach with Melbourne Victory in 2021.

Archie was an ambassador for Polished Man in 2020, an organisation raising awareness to end violence against children.

Archie hopes to inspire others through sharing his own life’s journey.
