A Story of Resilience, Hope, and the Power of Overcoming Adversity
Ron Delezio’s life and story embody resilience, hope, and the extraordinary power of the human spirit. His message, by Sir Minston Churchill, is simple yet profound: "Sometimes it’s not enough to do your best. Sometimes, you need to go that little bit further". It’s a principle that has guided him through the most unimaginable challenges, and it’s a message that resonates deeply with audiences no matter their lifestyle.
A dedicated father, husband, and businessman, Ron’s personal journey is one of unparalleled strength and unwavering hope. In 2004, his daughter Sophie was critically injured in two separate accidents, the first involving a car crash, and the second a tragic fire. Together with his wife Carolyn and son Mitchell, Ron stood by Sophie’s side as she fought for her life in hospital, enduring unimaginable pain and trauma.
Amidst this, Ron faced his own battle with depression, yet found the courage to keep his family strong, and his focus clear. Today, Ron's story serves as a beacon of resilience, inspiring thousands of people, from corporate executives to large event audiences, to push through adversity and rise to meet their challenges with renewed strength.
Ron’s speaking engagements draw upon his powerful, real-life experiences of overcoming profound hardship and achieving personal triumph. His audiences are not only moved but motivated to take-action in their own lives, whether they are working through personal difficulties, leading teams, or striving to achieve ambitious goals. His message is one of possibility—showing how, with the right mindset and determination, it is possible to overcome even the darkest of times.
Recognized for his contributions to society, Ron has received numerous accolades, the most notable including, Australian Father of the Year (2006), NSW Citizen of the Year (2006), Australian of the Year nominations (2007 & 2008), and most recently, Disability Rowing Charity Patron (2021).
Ron is also a co-author of two bestselling books: Sophie’s Journey and A Letter to Sophie, which detail his family's experiences and their journey of love, hope, and resilience.
In 2004, Ron and Carolyn founded the Day of Difference Foundation, a charity committed to supporting critically injured children and their families. To date, the foundation has raised over $14 million to fund vital hospital equipment, research, and support programs. Their foundation provides organisations with a cost-effective way to keep staff or crowds focused during a conference, company bonding session or charity events.
Whether speaking at conferences, corporate events, or charity functions, Ron Delezio is a speaker who offers more than just a motivational message, he offers a powerful, personal story that challenges and inspires audiences to rethink their limits and pursue their dreams, no matter the obstacles.
