Matthew Hayden is a highly skilled and deeply respected cricket player.
Named the World’s Most Outstanding Batsman in both Test and One-day Cricket, Matthew has taken his cricket skills to new heights when he won a record of 24 centuries for Queensland. He continues to break records with his Test 380, as well as a world record 622 minute innings. He also participated in the 16 Test centuries, passing over 4000 runs across 46 tests.
Touring India in 2001, Matthew showcased his love of cricket when he net 549 Test runs from a mere six innings. For his talent, Matthew was awarded the title as Australia’s most prolific Test Match run-scorer, stripping Bob Simpson of the title within a single year. He would go on to crack four individual centuries in the twin home series against New Zealand and South Africa. Joining Justin Langer, the duo would score a world-record four double century partnership within a single season.
Matthew would be the winner of the Allan Border Medal in 2002, as well as the Wisden Cricketer of the Year in 2003. Continuing his streak, Matthew would go on to be named in the World Test Cricket team by the ICC in 2004.
Cementing his legendary status in cricket, Matthew scored over 1000 Test runs in 2004, for the fourth consecutive year, and was the first batsman in the history of cricket to do so.
