When Heidi Prowse’s husband, Andrew, was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis (CF) she began volunteering for Cystic Fibrosis ACT. Her experience with the genetic disease equipped her with the skills to make a difference in the lives of both those suffering and their loved ones.
In 2011 Heidi organised the inaugural Santa Speedo Shuffle, a fund-raiser in which participants circle Lake Burly Griffin in mid-winter in their speedos. The event started with only seven participants but last year there was over a hundred partakers, and the event has risen over $360,000 in its first four years.
Prowse was then appointed as an Executive Officer of Cystic Fibrosis ACT, where her integrity, organisational skills and compassion is used to assist those living with CF, their families and parents of newborns that have been diagnosed. Heidi is determined to make a difference.
Heidi is the ACT National Finalist Young Australia of the Year 2017.
