Passionate about helping the disadvantaged and at-risk young people in the community
Anthony Edler is a community leader and positive role model who is passionate about helping others. He drives a program that helps disadvantaged and at-risk youth in his community.
Anthony is the co-ordinator of the Risdon Vale Bike Collective, where he combines his knowledge and skills of mountain biking and youth work to help young people fix broken-down bikes. The program helps develop life and employment skills whilst making a positive contribution to society.
Having started the program over 13 years ago, more than 1200 bikes have been restored, with some being sold, 500 have been given away locally and 440 donated to people in Namibia.
Using his skills in patience and passion, Anthony has built links with funding bodies, businesses, schools and charities, to fund community projects. He has helped over 250 kids gain support and confidence, as well as the satisfaction of giving to others in need.
