Dan Bourchier is an acclaimed journalist and broadcaster at the ABC. He hosts the current affairs program, The Drum, and serves as a special correspondent for The Voice referendum. With over two decades of reporting experience, he has covered stories both nationally and internationally.
Growing up in the remote Northern Territory town of Tennant Creek, Dan was mentored by local elders and developed a deep appreciation for his Indigenous heritage, which stems from his mother's family in Victoria. His passion for news and reporting ignited at a young age when he began a traineeship at the Tennant and District Times while still in school.
Over the years, Dan has had many roles in the media industry, working as a newspaper reporter, video journalist, foreign correspondent, political reporter, and social commentator.
Beyond his journalism career, Dan is a dedicated runner, reader, and scuba diver. He holds qualifications as a proficient company director and played a foundational role in the NT Parliament's bipartisan advisory committee on Statehood.
He advocates passionately for democratic equality and equity and has lent his expertise to various boards, committees, and charitable organizations. Known for his exceptional communication skills, Dan is sought after as an MC, event facilitator, and expert communicator nationwide.
