Robert Potter is a globally renowned cyber security executive, advisor, and innovator with extensive experience in government, defence, and private sector cybersecurity operations. He is the Co-CEO and Co-Founder of Internet 2.0, an Australian cyber security firm, where he invented the company’s core patented technology. Robert's expertise spans a broad range of high-stakes cyber security issues, from nation-state threats to emerging digital warfare tactics.
With a distinguished career in both government and industry, Robert has served in critical roles such as Head of Cyber Operations at BAE Systems, where he led response efforts against Russian, North Korean, and Chinese cyber threats, and General Manager of WithYouWithMe Cyber, a firm focused on cyber security talent development. He also played a key role as the lead subject matter expert for North Korean Cyber Security within the U.S. Department of State’s Cooperative Threat Reduction Program, collaborating with international partners including the U.S., Canadian, and Australian governments.
Robert's contributions to global cyber defence are further demonstrated by his active engagement in several high-profile international initiatives. He has worked closely with the Ukrainian government, serving as a Board Member of the Ukrainian Government’s CyberDiia program and providing advisory support to the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence, the Security Service (SBU), and the National Guard. He has been instrumental in developing Ukraine's cyber strategy in the face of Russian aggression, including preparing digital evidence of war crimes for future prosecution. Robert is also a member of the Business Advisory Group for the Restoration of Ukraine.
As a thought leader in the cyber security space, Robert has participated in numerous global counter-ransomware task forces and served as an industry advisor to President Biden’s Counter Ransomware Initiative. He is the founding partner of Cyber Activities Group (CAG), an advisory firm focused on cyber warfare doctrine, electronic warfare, and drone technology, providing guidance to the U.S. Department of Defence.
Earlier in his career, Robert played a pivotal role in supporting the Australian government’s cyber program, including heading DFAT’s program during the 2018 APEC Summit in Papua New Guinea. A former visiting scholar at Columbia University, Robert has also been an influential voice in cyber policy, having advised the Australian Shadow Cabinet on cyber security issues.
