Educating audiences on the importance of internet safety
As the creator behind Internet Safe Education, Brett Lee continues to share his expertise with new audiences in hopes to promote safer internet usage.
Originally working in the field as a Queensland Police Officer for 22 years, Brett spent 16 years as a Detective in the field of Child Exploitation. Towards the latter end of his service, Brett would work as a specialist for undercover investigations into child exploitation cases.
Completing the FBI Advanced Internet Investigations Course, Brett has worked with the FBI in Maryland, the Department of Homeland Security in Virginia and the San Jose Internet Crimes against Children Task Force in California. Brett has also worked on a US/Iraq project as a Police Instructor where he trained Iraqi nationals from the Iraq National Police Academy.
Sharing his own professional expertise in the field, Brett delivered training to law enforcement organisations across Australia, including the New South Wales Police, South Australian Police, West Australian Police and Australian Customs. Within his own Queensland department, Brett was also involved in the Detective Training and Sexual Crimes courses in Online Child Exploitation investigations. He has also attended and spoken at conferences around Australia and the world.
In recognition of his mission, Brett has received the Queensland Police Commissioner's Gold Award and the Crime and Misconduct Commissioner's Award for his role in the software development and implementation to track and identify online child offenders.
After an impactful safety presentation to students in 2001, Brett realised that the key to protecting children from online dangers was education. With a renewed sense of direction and purpose, Brett created the Internet Safe Education to promote awareness and responsible use of the internet. In 2009, the program reached over 100,000 students, teachers and parents.
Drawing upon years of professional training, Brett is committed to educating audiences about the potential dangers of internet usage.
