Barry is a business strategist and consumer behaviour analyst at the forefront of the digital disruption, social media, and home delivery revolutions. With over 40 years of experience, he provides insights and analyses to help clients define their brand and enable them to enjoy sustainable competitive advantages, benefits, and rewards.
Renowned for his striking accurate forecast in 2006 of the 2008 onset of the Global Financial Crisis, Barry has a passion for consulting, strategising, and facilitating strategic planning workshops for businesses throughout Britain, the US, New Zealand, and Australia. He also projected the China economic correction and the earlier significant downturn in mining industry capital expenditure and its implications for mining companies. He based each projection on his dynamic strategic planning model to give his clients a competitive edge.
Barry is the Managing Director of Marketing Focus, a Perth based market research and strategic planning practice. He also has degrees in marketing, political science and sociology, and was a former lecturer in Marketing and Management at the Curtin University of Technology.
Barry is also an internationally recognised conference keynote presenter, regularly contributing to events across five continents. He delivers up to 100 keynote addresses each year, facilitating around 15 strategic planning workshops and leading interactive one-on-one marketing audits. In addition, Barry is also a regular commentator of consumer issues on public and commercial radio, including ABC radio. He has been featured on a series of interview topics on “Today Tonight” and records a monthly segment for the airline in-flight audio program “Strictly Business”.
Barry is an author of six books, including the two largest selling publications on service excellence in Australasia, and contributes to 49 magazines worldwide.
