One of Australia’s Most Popular Corporate Comedians
Des started off his career as a news and current affairs reporter for ABC, Channel Seven and Channel Nine. However, after deciding that making people laugh was a far more noble way to earn a living, he changed career paths and went on to become a successful comedian.
In 1998, Des placed in the Australian final of the Triple J Raw Comedy competition.
In 2001, he wrote and produced his one-man show, “Not The Good Scissors”, to a sell-out crowd at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
Des shines both behind and in front of the camera, having written and directed sketches for the hugely successful “AFL Footy Show” as well as presented on Channel Seven’s “Kinne” and Channel Nine’s “Manspace”. He also wrote and directed “Mark Loves Sharon” – Channel 10’s Logie-nominated, comedy mockumentary series, as well as three documentaries for Arena Television’s “Day In The Life” series.
In addition, Des also appears regularly on the radio and has worked as the weekend host for Melbourne’s 3AW afternoon show and for two years as a presenter on Mix FM’s “Breakfast with Loz, Michelle & Des”.
With fifteen years of experience as a headline comedian, Des knows the key to success in the comedy and performance world. He is one of Australia’s most popular corporate comedians and MCs, and has performed across Australia and overseas. Meticulous, intelligent and witty, Des is an asset to any event.
