Aria Award-Winning Comedian, Radio Presenter and MC
An award-winning comedian and radio presenter, Alex is one half of the comedic duo hosting one of Australia’s most iconic national radio shows, “Matt & Alex - All Day Breakfast”.
In his hometown of Warrnambool, Alex’s first experience in radio was on a community station that he hosted alongside his childhood friend, Tom Ballard. They made their big break in 2007 when they were offered a slot on Triple J. Soon after, they went on to gain recognition as the co-hosts of the national Triple J breakfast show.
In 2013, the pair won an Aria for Best Comedy Release for their album, “Tom & Alex: The bits we’re least ashamed of”.
In 2014, Alex was joined as co-host of the Triple J breakfast show by Matt Okine. After three years hosting Triple J’s highest-rating breakfast show, Alex and Matt left in 2016 to focus on individual projects.
Four years later, Alex and Matt reunited and built “Matt & Alex - All Day Breakfast”, Australia’s first on-demand breakfast show. It is broadcasted to over 1.1 million Australians every week. The show has interviewed everyone from Nirvana to Arnold Schwarzenegger to Julia Gillard. Each episode reflects on the day’s topics where they share their much-loved views on the world.
Alex put his Bachelor of Arts to good use during his radio stint and applied his creative talents in several fields. He made TV appearances in ABC’s JTV and Shaun Micallef’s Mad as Hell, provided live sports commentary for the Women’s International T20 cricket and NEAFL AFL competition, as well as DJ’ed at some of Australia’s biggest clubs and music festivals. In addition, Alex is highly regarded in the digital space due to his background in content creation and has fronted online campaigns for Optus, KFC, Nike and YouTube Music.
In 2018, Alex teamed up with Universal Music in their music competition, “Project: Aloft Star Asia Pacific ”, and served as the project mentor for the Australian entrants, High Tropics.
In 2020, Alex published his first book, “When it drops”, a touching coming-of-age novel about family, friends and fame.
