Kelly McJannett is a pioneering social entrepreneur and thought leader dedicated to harnessing the power of AI to combat food insecurity and promote community well-being worldwide. As the co-founder and CEO of Food Ladder, an innovative NGO recognised as the 2024 AFR BOSS Most Innovative Company, Kelly has transformed the organisation from a concept into a leading force for change, creating sustainable solutions that empower communities to achieve economic independence.

With a strong background in communications and a passion for addressing social issues for the next generation, Kelly has spearheaded the development of scalable, AI-enabled hydroponic greenhouses, promoting education, health and economic participation, and wellbeing in remote schools. Under her leadership, Food Ladder has created employment opportunities for over 300 individuals previously facing poverty and long-term unemployment, while also championing self-sovereignty among disadvantaged communities, from the slums of India to Indigenous populations in Australia.

Kelly’s visionary approach emphasises the importance of multidisciplinary collaboration, advocating for equitable social and economic participation. She holds a Bachelor of Communications from the University of Technology Sydney and an MBA from the University of Sydney, where she was awarded the David Anstice MBA Scholarship for her outstanding contributions to community leadership. Her accolades include the Sydney University Dean’s Prize, the Leadership Excellence Award, and recognition among Australia’s 100 Most Influential Women by the Australian Financial Review.

A captivating speaker and member of the University of Sydney Business School Board of Advice, Kelly continues to inspire organisations and governments alike to join the movement toward sustainable food security and holistic well-being for future generations. Through her innovative work at Food Ladder, she is not only addressing immediate human needs but also preparing vulnerable communities to thrive in the face of climate change.
