Bernie Hobbs may be best known for her core role in ABC TV's The New Inventors, but she is also a fan-favourite for her weekly appearances on ABC Radio where she shares her love of science with the country.
Having graduated with first-class honours in biochemistry and microbiology, Bernie’s career has given her an extensive background in medical research, environmental writing and science teaching. She continues to share her insights with an impeccable sense of humour, tackling difficult subjects in a digestible and fun manner for every kind of audience.
For her work in the kids’ TV show ‘the experiMENTALS’, as well as the greenhouse website project ‘Planet Slayer’, Bernie has been recognised for her work with a range of accolades.
Bernie is no stranger to presenting and MC work, having chaired for numerous events including: Prime Minister’s Prizes for Science, Association of Consulting Engineers Australia, Queensland Government, CSIRO, The Australian Society of Medical Research, Congress of Science Journalists and Questacon.
Presenting best with a live audience, Bernie has worked with kids, animals and rocket scientists, rock stars, and even prime ministers.
When she’s not sharing her love of science, Bernie appreciates the world around her by birdwatching, cycling and kayaking.
