As one of Australia’s most successful sporting coaches, John Buchanan is deeply respected for bringing different Australian cricket teams to victory. Since then, he has brought his effective coaching strategies to the corporate sector, inspiring audiences to work together to achieve peak performance.
John was appointed to coach the Australian Cricket Team after Geoff Marsh’s retirement. Thanks to John’s coaching, the Team brought home a number of world records, including the highest number of consecutive Test wins, the highest number of consecutive One Day International wins and the longest number of consecutive wins in the World Cup. The Cricket Team also made history as the first team ever to record 400 in an international one day match.
John also coached the Queensland Bulls and was instrumental in propelling the team to their first Sheffield Shield title in the 1994-95 season. Across his five years as the Queensland Bulls coach, the team would go on to win the Mercantile Cup and the Sheffield Shield twice.
When he finally retired from cricket coaching in 2007, John was the most successful coach in Australia, having coached 70% of successful matches since 1999. He also holds the highest winning percentage in Test and ODI's of any coach.
