Andy Gowers brings a rare perspective shaped by a lifetime in elite performance across both sport and business. He is the current President of the Hawthorn Hawks, a member club of the Australian Football League (AFL), Australia’s leading spectator sport.
Andy played 12 years of professional football with the Hawthorn and Brisbane Football Clubs, including being part of Hawthorn’s 1991 premiership team. the Australian equivalent of the Super Bowl.
He later served as Hawthorn’s Football Director from 2014 to 2017, a historic period that delivered two premierships and an extraordinary three-peat of consecutive championships.
Elite sport runs deep in Andy’s life. He is the son of AFL player Trevor Gowers (Richmond Tigers) and the father of AFL player Bill Gowers (Western Bulldogs). This intergenerational experience has given him a deep understanding of what it takes to succeed in high-pressure, high-performance environments, and how culture, mindset, and behaviour shape outcomes.
