Influential Australian entertainer across comedy, music and TV
With a huge debut in the popular stage show ‘Wogs Out Of Work’, George Kapinaris continues to delight audiences with his natural talent for entertainment. Known nationwide for his starring roles on shows like ‘The Flying Doctors’ or ‘Acropolis Now’, George has also been the front man for the 70’s cover band ‘The Flares’.
George developed his unique style at Rusden College, where he became known as one of Australia’s pioneer entertainers for ethnic humour. He continues to draw inspiration from his Greek heritage across all roles and performances.
For his comedic work, George received two ACE awards alongside his 'Il Dago’ co-stars for Best Comedy, as well as a nomination in the Best Comedy Category for the ‘Wildwogs’ Production.
South Australians might also recognise George from the hugely popular RAA ads. Running over 12 seasons with well over 70 ads, George was able to bring his unique sense of humour to the repair and insurance company.
George’s theatrical credits are extensive, having performed in shows like MTC’s ‘The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui’, ‘The Rocky Horror Show’, ‘Chitty Chitty Bang Bang: The Musical’, ‘Nice Work If You Can Get It’, and Guy Masterson’s production of ’12 Angry Men’.
George has also acted in a range of on-screen productions, including ‘Big Mammas Boy’, ‘Bloody Footy’, ‘Joey’, as well as the underworld lawyer George Defteros in the popular mini-series ‘Underbelly’. He is also a regular panellist for SBS’ ‘The Squiz’, and has even appeared on the TV show ‘It’s A Date!’.
